Re: where to buy laptops I just bought a Thinkpad T42 to replace the company laptop I'm giving up. I also bought one for my dad since his Dells keep breaking on him. I was about to order both from newegg.com but found a significantly better price from sparco.com. I highly recommend them (both Sparco and IBM).
A footnote on the IBM warranty....I had a friend who was in Beijing when his Thinkpad had a failure. They were out the next day to replace the failed hardware under warranty. Pretty impressive to me.
Footnote #2...I used to do IT support for some of the high-level executives at SoCalGas/Sempra. They all used Thinkpads and no matter where they were in the world we could get an IBM tech and/or hardware to them within a day.
