I understand what Impulse noise is and what usually causes it but I'm looking for a little better understanding on the reading in the 1800HG's.
I know that in theory there can be 256 tone groups for a dsl signal.
When my 2wire says I have say 4 Impulse Noise Comp. Tones:, does that mean that 4 tone groups are affected?
I wish it told me which tones are seeing the impulse noise.
I have two dsl lines here.
Both are suddenly showing Impulse noise.
The slower speed line (1536/384) is seeing as many as 56 while the faster (6016/608) line is seeing about 20 max.
In the past, these readings were always zero.
My slower line is holding sync just fine but the 6016 line is loosing sync every few hours.
This all seemed to start after a fairly bad electrical storm. But at the same time, I had two new neighbors move into my apartment building.
So this is making this new impulse noise very hard to track down!
I know I have not made any changes, in fact I turned all power off to my entire apartment and just ran the 2wires with a laptop and the noise is still present
Anyway, I'm just looking for some advice as to weather or not I'm interpreting the 2wires meaning of "Impulse Noise Comp. Tones:".
Thanks All
