Re: westell versalink 327w disconnect issues.

said by xRoninx:

Like many of you I have been having many Versalink 327w reboot/disconnect issues, especially while using Azureus (BitTorrent).

Thoughts?

- xRoninx
What is probably happening is that P2P applications, like BitTorrent, open many concurrent connections and the router's NAT table capacity is exceeded. The device then reboots and the NAT table is cleared. The best fix, as you have found, is to run the Versalink as a bridge and use a separate router that can handle more concurrent NAT connections.

I had all of those disconnect problems with the Westell 327w. Tried to cool it, drilled holes, etc. etc. Finally went to Compusa a few months ago and got a Zoom 5654 modem and haven't looked back.

Hi. I was gonna post something similar I also have a Verizon WESTELL 327W Gateway REV E made in China manufactured in 2004. ALL of the ports won't work anymore except the wireless connection for my son's PC. And Tech Support/Billing was a total pain! They want me to PAY for a replacement....I also have my Xbox360 connected to it for Xbox Live and nowadays it always kicks me off XBL (regardless of which port I have the Ethernet cable plugged into)! Should I buy one from Verizon or fight for a free replacement? Or just buy a non-Westell Gateway from BestBuy?

Add me to the list. My 327W also sucks. Mine is a Rev: F, assembled in the USA. Been having serious disconnect issues lately, even if I'm not running uTorrent. Currently shopping for my own modem.

I just installed a 327W ver G
Model Number D90-327W15-06
Serial Number 07B403023356
MAC Address 00:18:3a:3b:65:b0
Software Version VER:4.03.02.04
Software Model 4 Port Gateway
Description WireSpeed Data Gateway
Boot Loader VER:4.03.02.04
Configuration 096-900125-02A

to replace a ver F. Nothing changed, I still get the cable disconnect network connected error on the computer. I checked the Modem log and there are no entries. Mine it seems only stays disconnected for about 5 - 10 seconds. Either way we all agree this should not be happening.

Thanks for the advice. I use to have that same problem when I had a 2wire modem I had to change the nic and I noticed no drop connections at all. I have a Westell Versalink 327W and I this is my 3 box. I also purchased a 2wire modem from dsldepot.com which I loved I don't know why bellsouth and at$t stopped using 2wire it was easy to use and I never had a problem.
I will leave the nic at half and see what happens.

I have had 9 techs look at my 6.0 ADSL2+ in the last 2 mos due to continual drops. This am I dropped 9x from 8am to 10am. I'm filtered at the demark and my Versalink is a "C" 2/2007 USA. I had a tech just leave who rewired the demark so the DSL filter is ahead to the line module and put and accelerator on the pole ahead of my drop wire. 1st tech that has known more about DSL than me. Hopefully this will clear the drops; if not I have a line problem back to the electronics. By the way there is a firmware update for the Versalink, 03.08.02. My ISP is BellSouth. Right now I'm doing 6.3mb down, but only 312kb up.

This past week has been horrible. My connection ( i am on the wireless end ) will drop constantly. Even the hard wired computer keeps having the connection drop.

Now there is a storm rolling though, my wireless connection must have reset 4 times this past hour from a little rain.

hey guys i just got a laptop for graduation and so i am just now using my versalink's wireless operation. the signal is horrible. currently i am sitting not two feet away from the modem and the modem is four feet above the laptop and i have 3 bars out of 5. i checked and i have a rev. e USA model... i was wondering if all versalinks just have bad wireless connection or do i need to give verizon a call or what should i do?

Well I am not quite sure if it is a Versalink or whatever but it is a Westell DSL2+router Rev C Model e90-610030-06.

It does all the same stuff disconects when, on a online game like Starcraft or Gunbound, even does it sometimes while loading Google!! As a matter of fact, it just disconnected as I was typing this post.........
----- Gotta wait for it to reconnect -----
...................Ok so like I was saying it sux. I dont even use Verison, I am using BellSouth FastAcess DSL. I am about to just chunk it and buy a new one. What Should I DO?????

Has anyone found a fix? My "short" disconnects sometimes don't register in the versalink log. The tech looks at that and says 'nothing wrong" but our VPN connection gets knocked down every time there an interruption of service. I've even gone to a static ip thinking if the interruption is short, the server seeing the same ip address which has been through the security procedures would maybe keep the connection. NO LUCK!?!
