Re: Linksys BEFSX41 Router + Speedstream 5200 Mode Just checked my modem and I can't actually remove my user ID and password. If I try to just blank them, it gives me an "Invalid user ID entered" kind of message. |

Don't even open the 5200 modem's interface in a browser at all. Then use only the Linksys Router to create the PPPoE connection through the 5200 modem while left in it's unconfigured state.
That is the best way, IMHO.

Good point. I was under the impression that the newer 5200s were shipped from Sympatico defaulting to Router mode thereby implying that it's a Sympatico firmware mod. However, you could very well be right - I've not had the need to try it out. Either way it's really easy to check:
1) Try the reset method as mentioned by Doctor Olds. 2) Failing that, try the FAQ method.

 | reply to Doctor Olds If my information has already been entered in the modem, is there a way to remove though? Or should I be fine setting it in Bridge? (at work so I can't check apart from remote access but I would lose my connection) |
