Needs 1 Mbps upload bandwidth

... this will be okay for for LAN use, but road warriors will have a hard time squeezing this much out of a non-FIOS line or getting this much in their hotel rooms.

Did you see the upload requirement?
I hope its a typo.

* Cable or DSL Modem (Out-of-Home viewing)
* 256Mb RAM (Higher Upstream Speed Recommended)

Yeah, that's weird!!! Looks like they put two different ideas on one line.

I'm sorry that I did not source my information that it needs 1Mbps. It is in this review: »www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1833287,00.asp

You read it wrong, the MAX it streams at is 1Mbps .

Why would you be uploading from your motel room?

The idea is to watch your television at home. You would be using downstream bandwidth at your motel room.

I don't think I've ever had more than 1 Mbps down in a hotel room. It's usually about 600-750 kbps download.

No, That must have been a typo. I just checked the web site again, and it says what they really meant. They recommend a 256 kbps Upstream. It will work and on 128 kbps, but obviously the higher the speed that you can stream up, the better. And yes, there is a cap of 1 mpbs up.

The stream looks fine with 128kbps upload speed, it takes slightly longer to get going and build a buffer, but you can barely tell the difference between that and a 384 upload, or even a local lan connection, only difference is the buffering time, which is short to begin with.

I run this on my cable and remote view from the office with 0 problem. I've also run it off of a DSL line in an attempt to make it as crappy as possible and have had no success.
