The reason why the remote takes some time to respond, is because of the built in buffer on the SlingPlayer. The command executes, but does not actually display on the player until the stream catches up to the buffer.
If you want the Player to respond to the remote control command instantly you can turn on "Control Mode". However, since this flushes the buffer, you will notice that the video stream will become choppy.
