Google's First Lost.

Well, Well. Looks like Google will be getting it's first $100 million lost. They should just stick to a search engine.

FWIW, agreed. I'm not sure I follow Google's rationale with this investment. They've been doing some pretty cool things lately, IMHO, however this is quite a bit beyond their forte. Now that they're public, I wonder what their shareholders think of this move?

Just my two cents, of course.

Kory

I see it as a win. You don't invest 100 mill into something you don't check out first...google is pretty good at doing that.

BPL now is just as reliable as DSL (if that says much to some of you DSL users).

This investment is easy to understand. Google's present capitalization is the many billions of dollar range. A 100 million write off on their corporate taxes would really be helpful. Google has the money to lose. Just think of all of the small investors that are going to lose money they really can't afford to lose.

Low voltage Tech's are wimps, Real tech's use 45 pound filament transformers, plate voltages no less then 2400 volts with at least 10 amp's lighting 8877 triodes...BPL I'm coming to get you.

There has got to be much better places to do 100 million write off???

Tell that to Excite (after they bought @Home.) Maybe they can get advice from Time-Warner (just look at AOL.)

Really? Care to elaborate or are you going to go hide as usual when you get called out?

Now, where is that BS flag?

Really? Ironically, a Google search would have told them in a couple of minutes the BPL was shaky technology and probably not the best use of their money.

So a five watt RF field 30 feet from the line takes down DSL, too ? I don't think so.

Every Internet king-of-the-hill gets knocked off sometime... perhaps Google's time has come...
