ok, am I crazy?

Call #2 to verizon tonight after my dsl modem dropped 3 times in 30 minutes. Each time I watched the router -- the DSL light would start blinking and the internet light would go dark. This would last for about 1-2 minutes, and then the DSL light would come back on full green and the internet light would come back on either as red or start blinking until the internet light comes on full green again. Again, I can't do anything until the internet light comes on.

I check the DSL logs in the router, and it perfectly mirrors every time DSL loses connection and says so.

I call Verizon online help, and the clueless person said there's nothing he can do to help me unless we can catch it actually not connected. All that's going to do is show a dead connection, and they'll send out some yahoos to look at the line, who will say all is ok.

Needless to say, the dsl doesn't go dead during this time.

He says there's nothing he can do to help me, and then I bring up the fact that this is a known bad versalink 327w modem, and he says I have to call the equipment people during normal business hours.

Am I crazy? Has anyone dealt with these "Equpiment" people? You would figure that the "equpiment" people could talk to the help desk people. ARRRGH!

I want to make sure I'm experiencing what everyone else with the stinking 327w has experienced and it's not just me before I go crazy. If I shell out $50 for a linksys wireless/DSL/router, will my problems go away? I'd be $50 poorer, but i'd also not have to bang my head in the wall.

Call in and say 'cancel' at the voice prompt, when someone from 'retention' comes on, firmly tell them your Versalink is defective and you want it exchanged.
