Re: westell versalink 327w disconnect issues. Like Rick, I just received a replacement Versalink 327W from Verizon; same rev and model number he got, manufacture date of 6/2005.
I'll be stress-testing it this weekend, but so far, so good. (And I, too, was delighted to see the WPA support, which I immediately switched over to.) |

 | Don't mean to spam you all with tons of replies and make the thread unreadable, but so far after 1.5 days, NO disconnects. Even when my old westell was in a good spell, it would never go more than a few days without dropping the connection a ton. so, by the end of the weekend I'll know for sure, but looks like it's just another case of bad modems from Versalink.
I'll reply (with a lot of characters like #$%))%^$Y)$%^) if it begins to drop the connection again.
Once again, thanks for all of your help. |

 | reply to enrevanche I believe I have the same 327W. The new one with WPA, however, I still have disconnect issues. Once a day or so, and then it doesn't want to come back up. One thing I did to fix some of the problem was to remove the wires that Verizon sent with the modem. I have new CAT 5 and new Phone/Cat3. The new phone patch cable helped. I'll be fiddeling with it this weekend also to figure out what it is. I'm anxious to see how your stress test comes out. |

 | The A90 version is the one that I had returned because of disconnect issues. They replaced with a B90 china version. |
|
 | I've got the B90 Rev D made in US 5/2005. I've had disconnect problems since I got it. It could be because of the 62.5 DB loss on the download. |
|
 | now I'm really ready to go ape-you-know-what. Like everyone else has mentioned, the B90 model is disconnecting like crazy!!! 7 times in the past 25 minutes.
I'm about to go friggin' nuts.
Any advise on what to do next? Do you think getting a non-westell modem may help? How do I go about requesting one from Verizon?
I'm beginning to think that the best thing to do is to call verizon, cancel, and tell them that if they think i'm paying the early disconnect fee for piece of crap service they have to be crazy. Then I'd be stuck with cable, which seems to be more expensive. But then again, if I'm not screaming at my modem every day, it may be better.
Any thoughts?

caledan join:2005-07-17 Mechanicsburg, PA | I'm new to this forum, I found it searching for answers to the problem I am having with my Westel 327. I also have the B90 Rev D model and it drops all the time. It is a piece of cr@p. One time I had a 48 hour outage. Verizon's tech support is so clueless. Is there any reason I can't go out and by my own modem? I was looking at a Netgear one and based on my past experience with them at least it would work. Any thoughts? |

 | reply to rickined have you tried using a different brand of DSL modem? Maybe running to bestbuy and buying one just to try it out. Mine has been disconnecting all weekend, it changed IP addresses 3 times. That's no good with my e-mail server. Cable changed twice in 3 years. |
