I hope people don't get too excited about booting up 50% faster.

Because if the OS is rock solid and manages all resources nicely you won't hardly need to reboot. How about that.

I'm guessing tech support will find it enjoyable though. Less dead time on phone waiting for reboots.

Heh cool_coda, I think tech support will be disappointed exactly BECAUSE there´s less dead time on the phone waiting for reboots. The less calls they get, the less work they have. Take a look at dell for instance, they keep the same guy on the phone for 2 hours, at times, and 1 hour minimum.

I appreciate the faster reboot...but that is not my main excitement

Reboots for software installs. Certain ones of course. And certain hardware changes.

Not to mention windows updates. (Unless of course this is a perfect OS with no updates ever needed. )

A rose by any name smells the same. I don't care what they call it as long as the security enhancements are everything that they are claiming. A little better GUI, a little faster, are all nice things to have. But real security enhancements is what could make me pay money to switch to Vista.

Personally, I think they should have just named it Windows 64 XP.... it's bound to have 64 times the problems the initial Windows XP had.

By the way, it took great restraint from typing out WinDoughs ... even though it has a GUI interface; it only goes to show it's likely only half baked !!

Pehaps it's in need of a good kneeding?

Oh, what will that sick individual come up with next????

They should have called it "Las Ventanas Vista" if they were going for a Latino feel.

Does it play an Arnold Schwartzanegger sample, "Hasta la vista, baby?" when it BSODs?

I think almost every version of Windows has claimed to boot faster than its predecessor, which is obviously a bunch of horsesh*t.

That is true isn't it.

I honestly don't look forward to paying for the new version. I wonder if anyone is already in line at Fry's for the midnight release.

With the hardware requirements of "vista" (how lame) it SHOULD boot faster! But 15% on applications? Who's going to notice it?

The 50% faster boot they claim being better than XP... XP gave you a desktop faster because it also changed the order of how some services loaded giving you the appearance that it loaded faster when in reality, you were still "booting" even though you had your desktop. So I guess that slow down for the first minute or so was OK in M/S eyes?

But seriously, where I have the REAL problem is the damn name! Are they selling douche? or advanced technology? If I wanted douche, I would buy summers eve!

Yea, and next thing you know, there will be a constitutional amendment banning the name Vista since it sounds "gay" too right?
