The upgrade for Windows is simple: OSX. Stability and compatibility - it's got it all now! |

Are you talking about Linux? Where are all the Linux applications? Mac OS X might not have as many as Windows, but most of the ones they don't have are crap adware and spyware. -- First rule of fiber optics: you do not talk about fiber optics! |

 | He's not brainwashed. The problem is that, while all or nearly all of the software available for PC is available on MAC, he (and I) shouldn't have to buy ANOTHER copy of software that we already own to make it work on a machine that cost twice as much as a PC for similar performance. And don't go giving us all that crap about using a windows emulator to make stuff run on a MAC, if I'm going to drop 3 grand on a computer I want to see that performance. |

 | Dumber Cross platform upgrades. Adobe, Macromedia and others (except M$, wonder why?) allow you to cross platform upgrade for free or low cost.
Or just wait until the next version and upgrade to the Mac version.
Most will only need Office - the rest is included with a new machine. All I bought was Office - Elements at the time was dual platform, and the rest came with the box.
And it's not 3x the cost of a comparable PC. The prices are very close once you do an apples to apples comparison. You can't compare a mid-top line Mac with a bottom line POS Dell.
What's to say you won't need to upgrade your S/W to run on Vista? Many had to U/G when XP came out. |

Re: dumb GTA2, Guild Wars, and many other PC-only games.
And don't say "well there are emulators", because folks damn well know emulation sucks for a PC gaming experience. |

Now if I want to totally blow away the Mac, then it's a matter of dropping a OMFG-ubahs! graphics card into it.
So, it's more along the lines of 2x a cost, not 3. |

That totally makes a 3 grand Mac worth it. |
