My Idea

I think bit torrent is good, but there should be a way to control distribution, the whole system (Bit torrent for pro. networks) often requires a devoted server to function. I think the bit torrent concept would be good to apply to pieces of data and the whole internet. There are maybe even as much as 12 people viewing this post and maybe as much as 1000 people viewing the single add. This add could be sent much faster if somebody who is on a computer next to you uploads the add to your computer. Now an add is not the perfect example but take an 10,000 kilobyte video then this makes sense, or even a page over 1 megs.

This idea is plausible only when internet speeds are faster and the binary that is used to communicate with the server to request things is shortened. 56k means you have only about 20k...

I believe the bit-torrent idea will be the corner stone of a distant future computer system, in which all computers are hooked up to a terminal server and do not have to be faster than 3 gigahertz. Then the files that need to be downloaded can be shared together.

On another note, port forwarding is a very poor choice, it neglects the firewall. The speed of your firewall have a lot to do with the brand. Anyway you don't want to be caught for making your 17k download go 20 k.
