No, they are just top end DNS servers that belong to Level3 communications. Part of web loading slow downs can be the fact that it takes a long time to resolve host names to IP addresses. As you have just seen. So by using good servers to resolve host names, it is effectively a speed increase.

Just wanted to say that I've been having horrible DNS lookup times here in Richmond for about the past 3-4 days. If I ping 64.83.0.10 or 64.83.1.10, the times are fine - avg. 9ms. But hardly any web pages were loading.
I've had CavTel for a year and a half now and have never, ever experienced any problems with them, until now. I guess that's a good track record! |
