Anyone having Linksys Router Problems?

anon : I had a Linksys router that was working perfectly, but the lightning zapped it out. I replaced it with a new one and can't get the thing to work. Two questions. 1) Could my cable modem have been slightly damaged in that it is powerful enough to operate with my computer, but can not give the router a strong enough signal? 2) Could OptimumOnline have made some changes? Any help is greatly appreciated.
