i-Guide adsI was just wondering... For anyone that has had the i-Guide for some time now, have you had any ads in the guide? From what I've gathered from others, ads in the i-Guide will take away a whole line of listings making the final count 4. That's unacceptable.
Can Comcast control whether we get ads or not? I know Comcast had like 51% to do with this guide... so maybe we're the lucky ones that get exempted from these nasty ads?
It's just that the way they designed the guide, ads would make the whole thing inefficient. It takes away 20% of the guide. I don't think we should have to take 20% out of the guide we pay for to put 20% more money into the pockets of the greedy TV Guide.
I hope no one has gotten any ads... ::crossing fingers:: (Comcast has a real winner here as long as it's ad free)
Edit: spelling |

Have had i-Guide on my DVR since I first got it (January) and my regular cable box (about April or May) and no ads so far. Hopefully it'll continue. |

That's a good sign. I know Comcast or TV Guide (whoever manages it) advertised the heck out of Tan Guide. But the tan guide was designed around advertising. The i-Guide was designed around information so squeezing advertising in it makes the whole thing fall apart. Thanks for the response. I just don't want to get used to the ad-free version if I could get the adware version later on. |

As long as it doesn't take away 20% of the listings, I'm fine. |

up until when we went to the new FW 9.19....I am assuming they upgraded the guide software at the same time to remove it or something....we had ad's in one spot they were usually ad's for programming no product ad's but ad's all the same.....I marked where they were |

Yeah, they're already downgrading us to 5 lines (from six on the tan guide).. with ads that downgrades us to 4!
I hope Comcast makes the right decision here. I've already heard MANY cable companies have received thousands of complaints about the ads. Comcast would have some outraged customers if they choose to go with the adware version of i-Guide.
If they're going to tease us with an ad free guide at first and then subject us to advertising later on, that's just wrong. |

As you can see, there's a big difference. It also seems that Comcast planned the i-Guide to be ad-free the whole time. Their demo doesn't show ads while TV Guide's does. |

There's scaled video for Comcast.. but only for the 2500 and above. They didn't want to show it in the demo because the vast majority of customers have DCT-2000's, which doesn't support scaled video. |

I have Bresnan and our i-Guide has ads for programming or "quick tips" sometimes. It changes hour to hour (yes, on the hour) whether we have ads or not. Seems they're more common in the evenings. I don't find them TOO bad compared to the tan guide, but I sure prefer looking through the guide when they aren't there. |

oh god they are back with a vengence.....I guess they are not just channel ad's anymore |

Ads suck. I guess I'm just glad that comcast uses SA boxes in my area equipped with the SARA guide. It actually does its intended job on my DVR of only having listings. |

Still no ads here.. hoping it'll stay that way.
I guess if I ever get the ads it won't be too bad since I use the page up/down buttons.
One question, how many lines of programming are there with single cell with ads? |
