Greed & Control When you get down to the bottom of it. Part of it is money. ::pauses for a second:: .. okay so most of it is about money. But the other part is the RIAA's craving for power and control. It used to be radio and the record industry controlled what was released to the public, regardless if they were good music or not.. they just released what made the easiest money. Fastfoward to creation of P2P... bands that previously were unable to get their music out were suddenly being discovered and brought out to the masses.... fast foward to 2005... Sites like purevolume.com prove that artists can be popularized without a RIAA record label.
They're losing control and are just desperate to gain that power back again. As much as they say copying or downloading is illegal.. NO PERSON HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO COURT OVER DOWNLOADING..(all settle outside of court) .. It's just a scaretactic they're using. Only exception are the people that SELL downloaded works.. that's a whole other story. understandable.
Plus the whole capitalism factor.. "Ohh We're losing so many millions to piracy.." (Guess what? they're not losing anything.. they're just not making as much..even those figures are skewed) What do you expect? it's pure greed. |
