The National Guard denied Wal-Mart trucks full of water and Red Cross trucks full of food and medical help from entering NOLA.
And we're worried about cell phones. Yeah, where did you get your info from (Idiot's are us???) As for Cellular Service, T-Mobile is not the only one, Cingular, Verizon, Sprint have all brought C.O.W.S. into the area to get communications set up for the Relief efforts, along with those areas that are seeing an influx of Refugees being brought into them. -- One man's customer loyalty is another man's misguided arrogance. |

 | Funny, I can't find ANY reporting of this on any reputable site. Lovely thing about the internet, people can post anything to their "blog" and anon idiots will believe it. |

 | reply to Greg_Z Here's a link to Cingular's web site on their progress at restoring service. The biggest problem with restoring cell service is that most cell sites are connected back to the core networks via T1 lines, which are controled & maintained by the phone companies. (Some use LOS microwave but that's typically only in areas where they can't get a land line to the tower.) As more power is restored to the phone companies they can bring up the COs that feed the T1s that the cell companies use.

The media has done a good enough job of showing the down side of the recovery efforts out there. Perhaps we should say "Kudos" to TMobile for their efforts and let that be it. |
