The biggest problem with restoring cell service is that most cell sites are connected back to the core networks via T1 lines, which are controled & maintained by the phone companies. (Some use LOS microwave but that's typically only in areas where they can't get a land line to the tower.) As more power is restored to the phone companies they can bring up the COs that feed the T1s that the cell companies use.

The media has done a good enough job of showing the down side of the recovery efforts out there. Perhaps we should say "Kudos" to TMobile for their efforts and let that be it. |
