No thanks....

Don't waste time on video services, for now.

The only thing VZ needs to be doing right now is worrying about getting the fiber in the ground or on the poles, and especially to ME!

Video, scmideo... Don't care. I have DBS and I am not switching, pricing and offerings not even close for me.

JUST GET the FIOS Data to me! 5/2 for $50/month I am all over it! I've got 3, probably FOUR residences that are just waiting to have this service and dump cable, ISDN and/or dialup.

If they want to offer video in the LONG TERM great, go for it, but lets worry about the important stuff first.

1) Fiber, INSTALL IT ALREADY! You need a trench, NOOOO PROBLEM! RRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHH ZAAAAAAAAAAP! One trench, without regard to any thing in the way! A nice open trench would give me a way to have some REAL electric company choice. I happen to be in an area where 2 DIFFERENT power company lines run, and a back room deal decided who got screwed by who. I could run my own line to a real power company versus the local hick "co-op."

2) Data

Anything else can WAIT, for now.

NOTE: I am 10000000% FOR/PRO competition in cable/video and phone and data. Once VZ puts the fiber network in they can worry about offering "extras" like video. I see fights coming from the cable side especially if they have to go back to every area and get a franchise agreement for video. In my old area of PA that would be 63 franchise agreements for one county alone. Another 100+ in the next county etc.. Ship it get the fiber in the ground and data going then tackle the video.

In all likelyhood the video portion takes away relatively little resources from the laying of new fiber, both in terms of money as well as manpower. With or without video services, fiber likely would come to you at about the same pace. Actually, it's possible video could accelerate the process as costs may be recouped slightly faster.

VZ deploymnet is basically NOT QUICK ENOUGH and any thing that may even be the slighest delay to it getting to me is a problem. Any resources that could be used to get more fiber installed to me or my area or any other needs to be put to INSTALLATION of fiber over some waste of space video service.

Thats tired old ancient business class thinking. This "triple play" nonsense needs to stop and die. I AM NOT INTERESTED. I have made my choice for video, and voice. Voice service actually is about to get totally dropped here pretty soon as I don't use or need it.

Video will CAUSE SERIOUS DELAYS in areas where they need to get a franchise agreement. Even in areas where its one governement entity per county or maybe a few more. There are already rumblings that BH/TW in my area may go to court to stop ALL INSTALLATION of fiber. Their tactic..FRANCHISE AGREEMENT. If VZ sticks to installing fiber to replace their voice & data services BH/TW can only attack because of the issue of the various damages to lines etc.. BH/TW is going to do anything it can to slow down competition to their video services and to the near lock on data services they have in my area. Franchise agreements for video could be a hitch to STOP INSTALLATION IN MY AREA.

So ditch the video, and then OOOPS! We can do video too and fight it out in court AFTER ITS INSTALLED over the VIDEO.

Just because you may not want it, doesn't mean those that do and tout it as being good should "die".

Triple play is another option for the consumer. I for one would enjoy one bill for my wireless, landline, long distance, video, and internet along with the discounts I receive if the services are comparable to having them separate. I currently pay Charter $72 a month for their crap service (HD and DVR with expanded Digital) and SBC $122 for my basic wireless, feature full landline, DSL (3mb/600kb), and long distance (60 mins). Certainly when the time comes triple play will probably reduce that bill to around $100 instead of $200.

2 Completely different companies within Verizon dealing with each issue. Video services are in no way slowing down fiber deployment. In fact if anything other services are hurting while Verizon redirects corporate assets to laying fiber.
