are those pics from the 1st DoD:S release or the new one? valve scrapped the original plans and decided to do the full model/texture conversion which is why it was delayed from spring until now. looks like it might be the more recent version, but i really dont think it looks that bad...
it's easily on par with CS:S...what's the problem?
the version before looked HORRIBLE because it was literally DoD ported onto the source engine, no remodelling/texturing, nothing. it was basically the same graphics you saw in the original except now played on source. looks 1000x times better now.
DoD is all about immersion. the atmosphere totally encapsulates the player and makes for a truely awesome experience. those gfx really dont look that bad...

I knew that DoD was holding up Lost Coast. Being that people are waiting for DoD and it is a pay for game, DoD takes first priority. |

That way you will also get HL:S and CS-CZ as well as al the HL1 mods. Fill out a support ticket on the steam web site they will take care of you.
