On my SB5100 it's always around 37dB and on the v4.Linksys it's an atrocious 28.5dB.  Functionally, I didn't really test download rates much at all as my connection has been real spotty lately.  I only bought the modem to see if the connection issues were due to my SB5100, which turned out to be innocent...]]></description>

Just make sure you get a freshly shipped one or observe the photo of the modem on the box carefully as described above.  If, after opening the box, you find it isn't a ver 4 there is a two-week return period.  The website of Office Depot has the same offer but I don't know which version you will get there.  ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Bob98102 posted : Posted this by mistake as a new topic. Here's my download test on my new BEFCMU10 ver 4.  Also, I get sustained downloads of 6600 kbps of large files.  My downloads were very erratic until I got kicked off of Comcast and received invitation to register.  A phone call led to reregistration of my new modem and the erratic downloads were corrected and are now stable. <description><![CDATA[Bob98102 posted : I can corroborate the comment that the version 4 is in tiny  print on the CD and in even tinier print on the modem itself.  It is defintely not on the outside of the box, however version 2 boxes are labelled on the box(plus it is not a docsis 2 modem).  Got version 4 today at Office Depot for $59.99 after $20 mail-in rebate.  The modem boxes had Office Depot shipping labels and there were a variety of dates.  I took the most recent one (09/06/05)  Some were dated all the way back to June. It's like buying milk -- get the freshest!!   Does anyone know a large file download test?  ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[sortofageek posted : I didn't buy the Linky modem because I thought it was better than some of the other popular ones and I'm not thinking it is.  I bought mine primarily because I could get more diagnostic info from it than any of the others I had seen yet.  I suspect there are a number of other newer modems which would perform as well as this one.<br><br>You probably should ask your router firmware question in the Linksys Forum. <description><![CDATA[SurfGuru4 posted : And yes there is "3 LIGHTS" That is confirmed..It seem to be the better Cable Modem that I being Reading on this forum. I saw the other ones.. but after I heard the issue with those, I decide to go with this.. Heck I have a Router from  LInksys No problem with it so far.:)<br>Also with that Router I have.. Would it hurt the router if I update the Firmware? Would I see any difference?<br>It a LINKSYS BEFW11S4  version 3. The firmware is 1.44.2, Dec 13 2002]]></description>
