rx7speed : first thing I Want to say is the modem reports what it is connected or trained at not what speed your provisioned for.
I'm provisioned for 3072 download and 640 up.
if I switch to g.lite I train at the same download but upload speed is only 512. provision rates are still the same though correct? or when I was having problems with the line (inside wiring not qwest fault but my own) I was training at 64kb/s download and 640kb/s up. I saw that through the actiontec configuration page.

also if I remember right the account itself doesn't have much to do with provisioned rates. that happens in the dslam. your first connection point. this goes on when you establish train. your username and password aren't even in use yet but your connection speed is. once the dslam and your modem establish a connection with each other and figure out what speed you are connected at THEN your username and password gets sent to the qwest gateway. but again by this point your connection speed has already been set.

sorry I just wanted to get that out first

now have you checked the wan status page?
if so what is the SNR margin? what do the error counts look like?

reboot all the computers that are connected to the actiontec modem. IMPORTANT STEP.
now watch the internet and use/ethernet light (depending on what you are using to connect to the modme)
are they flashing like crazy?
if so they shouldn't be that is an indication of some sort of malware.
another thing if your using windows XP reboot the computer again and bring it up in safemode WITH networking support. try browsing then and see what happens. if all of a sudden your browsing is good as can beand stays that way for some time again that is a symptom of malware.

hey if your in safe mode and you have the time try running that line quality test again and see if your ping rates change and maybe try the speed test again as well.

another thing you can do is bring up your command prompt (try not in safemode first) and ping the actiontec at 192.168.0.1 and whats the round trip time.

another thing that can have an effect and I know it does effect me sometimes is routers on the way OUTSIDE of quest control.
there are points I see sometimes where my internet connection will really slow down. my ping rates go up and stuff. when I do a tracerout pings are great through the qwest network but once I get outside of qwest sometimes I run into a internet router that has ping rates of 300ms or so. though it doesn't look like that is your problem I am just pointing out sometimes that does happen.

try those things though and report back with us and we can try a few more things

The Actiontec modem is running the Linux Universal Plug and Play daemon, which is what Windows is seeing. You can prevent Windows from seeing it by following the instructions in the links above. However, I wish there was a way of disabling UPNP in the modem. I believe an earlier version of the Actiontec firmware had this ability, but they took it away (the ability to control whether or not the UPNP daemon runs). The UPNP daemon takes a fair amount of memory, which is wasted if you aren't using the feature.

Of course, if you want things like AIM/Messenger video chat to work, then you need this feature and should not disable it.

hotbath : yes i have called in a repair ticket. its been about 2 weeks now. they sent a tech out to my house the next day and we hooked her modem and com up outside and it was still doing the same thing. so she made a call and finally the connected her to their tear 3 tech support. after a little while i could tell what they were talking about was something that i didnt want to here. the tech told her that the dslam was full. yeah tried cue me for a 256 connection to see if it would do anything for the speed which at the time 256 would have been better then the 130 or so i was hitting. before she left she told me that she was going to get in touch with some people in portland who would know more about whats going on. well that guy called me up the next day and i guess he updated the firmware on the system and at that point i got to hit about 600kb and i was pinging the game that i play between 70ms and 120ms or so. but it didnt hold on for long right back down it went. then the next day they sent another tech out to my house to hook up and what not. he did some speed test using there account login not mine and he was hitting like 130kb on the download. which is pretty dang good once you multiply that by 8. they did multiple tests that would turn out basically the same. then i told him to log in on my account and see what happens. he did downloading the qwest.net/nav4/downloads file on my account right down to about 15 kbs. so i figured it was like me and my brother were thinking that something happened to my account. well i had to leave for work so i didnt get to stick around to see what they tried next. but the next day the tech from portland called me again and said that it was not my account and that for legal reasons he couldnt tell me anything else. he would have to see what other people are doing to see if they were doing stuff they werent supposed to. and that it is not in my line either. well those line test show that that there is something wrong with the line. but anyways i have not heard from that guy in over a week and a half. i called in to there tech support a few days after the last time i talked to him and i asked how many people are on my circiut the response was it has nothing to do with the circiut it is in your line. if it is in my line fix it. they cant get their stories straight.
im the only one with this problem on my circiut so they say. like alot of people who can just switch to comcast to resolve speed issues i cant earthling sattelite is my only alternative and there crap is said to be only a 400 down and a 60 up. so i dont know what to do keep paying 45 bucks a month for internet that is barely better then 56k dialup. well this is getting to be alot for you guys and gals to read so im going to cut it off for now. i appreciate any comments and suggestions. thank you. and if any of you play joint opps typhoon rising this is the reason you dont see hotbath on there anymore. he cant handle it.
