RIAA's gambit

I can see the logic (if you can call it that) behind the RIAA's pressure on iTunes: if Jobs blinks, then the RIAA gets a cut of the iPod pie. More $$$.

If Jobs doesn't, then without iTunes and RIAA's library, the buying public will (in theory) buy more CDs to rip for their iPods. Or the RIAA may be cooking up their own online music service. More $$$.

Still seems like a dumb idea though. There's always the option of not buying at all, buying used, Bit Torrent, etc.
