Oh, yeah, your modem: I was getting about 2 Mbits/sec with my 4100, so rather than fighting with tech support for months about the config file, as some others on the forum have done, I ditched the 4100 and bought a cheap 5120.

I've talked to Comcast and they said my modem did have the right software for 6 Mbps speeds. My modem is a SB4100.
