Re: usr 8054 to 5450 mod!!! I wanted to use the 8054 as a wireless bridge to my Siemens Gigaset. Therefore I flashed it with the 5450 firmware and this worked. Very important to be able to use it as a wireless bridge is to configure all involved MAC addresses (both clients and APS') on all AP's and set the AP's to the same SSID and let them look at the same channel etc. Apparently the wireless bridge/repeater function works on the base of MAC addresses. It took me a day to figure this out but it is working now.
So when you did not succeed before please give another try with the above information.

Re: usr 8054 to 5450 mod!!! i've just done this and my 8054 just sits there orange lighting the going green then back to orange. seems to be constantly resetting. the reset button on the back dont seem to do anything., anyone have any ideas? |

One question though. The "Site Map" function doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be a way to see what wireless networks are available.
Is there a utility that can be used to scan available networks? I haven't seen one that works on anything but PCMCIA or USB wifi cards
The USR-Bridge I bought has that functionality but requires you to have it plugged into your router so it picks up an IP thru the LAN so it's not the most practical. |

| Hi there, is there a way to set the LAN speed to 10MB fixed in stead of auto-sensing on this usr8054 with original firmware? This cannot be changed on the web interface and I would like to keep this original firmware...

| You could put a small hub in front of whatever ports need to be 10 meg |

| This mod works. You have to reset the router to default after flashing, that's all. Remember the DHCP is not available like in 8054. Does not solve the famous 8054 reboot problem - depends more on load\overheating issues I think. Thanks ktulu |

Hey. Ktulu, (or anyone else who knows about this ahaha!!) have you try to add 5450 functions to 8054 firmware, so you can have a 8054 router with 5450 functions all-in-one? Ahahha that would be useful but i think it only have 2mb firmware memory avalaible, that's limited, so maybe compressing a lot or excluding some useless functions.

| This mod works fine and is easy to return to the original 8054 firmware using the U.S. Robotics Wireless AP Configuration Utility 1.53b7.
A common problem is to not find 5450 because when flashing 8054 to 5450 firmware the new 5450 has IP 0.0.0.0 so you have to use the U.S. Robotics Wireless AP Configuration Utility 1.53b7 installed on your machine, of course,
and only connected on LAN port 4, is the only working LAN port on 8054 when in 5450 firmware.
All functions works fine...search other AP in Client Mode runs well for me now i'm hooked to a external WIFI network with moded 8054, and Repeater too, etc.
Sometimes if changing firmware you have to physically reset the device pressing in the little hole at the back of 8054 but always using the U.S. Robotics Wireless AP Configuration Utility 1.53b7 and it's all OK. |

I have read thru this forum over and over and I cant seem to get this to work. I have flashed my 8054 with the 5450 mod file. I installed wireless config utility but I still cant seem to get the set up right.
I reset to default.
IN the ESSID I put the name of the primary router (linksys)
Channel is 11 (same as linksys)
AP name (linksys)
Checked Wireless Bridge mode
entered remote bridge mac address (mac address of linksys router - is this correct?)
Under IP setting:
I set IP address as address from linksys (192.168.15.XXX)
subnet same as linksys
Gateway is main linksys address (192.168.15.1)
Anything I am doing wrong here?
This router is going to make a great door stop shortly!
