This changes nothing

I am a system administrator and I have seen no drop in the amount of spam that our company gets. It is crazy!

Going after the spammers won't fix this problem. You imprison one, and others pop up. If you can make good money doing it, then people are going to jump into it. If they can't distribute here in the US, then they will go abroad.

What needs to be done is a solution to make the email system more secure. There are so many options being discussed that I can't mention them all here, but I feel we need to fix the system....not spend our money and time going after the spammers. Those people will ALWAYS be around.

Tech companies can't even agree on simple issues like DRM and you want them to agree on an email standard?

I have said this multiple times; go after the person selling the service or product. Most of these are scams and some are based in this country. Go after them and make some real money by taking all their assets so they can't afford to use a spammer again.

No one said it was easy, but the system really needs an overhaul. The decision won't be an easy one that is for sure.

As for going after these companies, I like that idea. Good luck for them not being able to afford to use a spammer. These spammers can send billions of emails without any overhead.

Going after the spammers is just like plugging a leaking dam with your fingers. The problem isn't going away unless you do it right.

They still might. This might be an "information gathering" raid.

I have said this multiple times; go after the crap ISP's that give him bandwidth, but not with the law but as an 'internet community'. Refuse all traffic from them.

Neither will happen, it will be whack a mole forever.

Exactly. The only things the current laws are doing is letting law enforcement hold their head up high and say "Look! We nabbed a spammer. Don't you feel so much safer?" They are a knee-jerk reaction that does nothing at all to solve the problem that does exist.

He'll be fine anyway

If he was smart, he's already put away most of his money in offshore bank accounts...and he'll do some time most likely.

Who was that other spammer that got 9 years?

Assuming Alan gets 9 years, out in 3 on good behavior...he could just as soon leave the country and live on his fucking island in his other mansion with his millions of dollars.

Again, if he was smart.

I hope he wasn't.

Bastard.

By the by - would anyone go to jail for 2-3 years if, when you got out, you could retire a millionaire?

I would.

Don't hate me!
