Re: And how is this news? Well I'm sure it's a math-game though....I'd like to see some internal Time Warner or Comcast predictions.
How many existing users would downgrade, versus how many new dial-up converts you could bring in with a $20 tier.
The latter in time you might be able to convince to upgrade to VoIP and other services.... |

No worry there. In my area, SBC is bringing in LOTS of people with their $15/month DSL. Remember, even 384k or 768k DSL is a helluva lot faster than AO-Hell on dial ... and now it's cheaper ! |

I am sure the cable companies have done those studies and the fact that they have not rolled out lite tiers says a lot about what the results of those studies were. These companies are in business to make money and if lite tiers would have done that, we would be seeing them advertised a lot. Comcast's Roberts is a shrewd businessman and I am sure he is doing what he can to maximize Comcast's profits. -- -- Join Red Room Forum My Web Page |

Well, that's my assumption. But the studies could have also been inconclusive, and the companies simply don't think it's worth taking the risk/reward dice roll. I think that's very likely, considering that results would vary significantly based on geographical location.
Also if there were studies, I bet those numbers change dramatically once cable broadband dominates VoIP. |

 | reply to Hall there is some people only using net to surf page and email.the amount is not small, they will be the most potential people to call for downgrade if giving a price less option.
you may ask why they not choose dial up instead, well, they not care speed, but they care consistant. |
