I have the same vmail problem, what I did was use the SIPURA forwarding feature to forward my calls to another sip service with Vmail after 4 or 5 rings

For issue number 2, you can edit your dial plan so you only need to dial 7 digits
(*xx|[3469]11|0|00|<1416:>[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)
