Interference

The biggest problem with this scenario is that it does not address the existing issue of RF interference on 900MHz. Nextel had been in negotiations with the government for some time to do a frequency swap in order to get off 900MHz and stop interfering with public safety radio. Of course with the opening of the upper UHF channels due to DTV conversion, I suppose the guvment could make the argument that public safety radio should move down there and they will keep 900MHz.

The problem is NOT at 900 MHz - yet...the interference IS at 800 MHz and severely impacts public safety radio systems as well as private SMR networks.
