 | Interesting...
I guess I will consider myself lucky. I don't normally use BBR's speed tests because they always seem to stall. The downloads FLY through the files until it reaches about half-way through the... 11MB file and it stalls for about 10-15 seconds, then continues at full speed. Whether it is a OOL thing or something else... I don't know. When testing with Speakeasy's test, I normally test above 9Mbps.
Personally, I think it is an issue with the speed servers. I recently download 5 ISOs for Open SuSE 10; two ISOs at a time, and was using about 8Mbps sustained. |

Also, what Cablevision is currently is considered as responding to competition, it is or should be the norm in a capitalist market. Sure some people might find it inadequate because of the lack of a static IP option, but they still have stepped up quite a bit. Why do you people take this as a sign of weakness, they have admitted a fault but CV has not stumbled.
Also as for cable networks or coaxial not being able to support 50Mbps, did you forget things such as Rainmaker's chip technology, DOCSIS 3.0 and the fact that some DOCSIS modems can have special features which enable 40Mbps. You also have to consider that this is in Mb per a channel, some cablemodems have multichannel features. This will be OOL's highest and most dedicated tier, aside from Lightpath.
Btw, I have gotten 8Mbps down and roughly 800kbps up, and I have a router that networks two other computers.
This ain't Darwinism, this is competition! |

oliphantI Have 8 BoobiesPremium join:2004-11-26 Corona, CA | That would then beg the question, what's the point of new tiers when they're capping so many users? It's just TOO many people seeing less than 5Mb to be caused by capping or not being tweaked. I'm not tweaked and have no problems seeing 6.5Mb+ from my DSL service. -- WAR HAS NEVER SOLVED ANYTHING, except ending slavery, facism, communism, Nazism.... |
