Re: good.. Not sure if this is me being a dumb user, but every night around 12:31 am, my Toshiba TiVo DVD-R asks me if I wish to let TiVo download extended data, or some such...and if I don't select "No" within an alloted time, it changes my channel to some TV-Guide "Specially For TiVo" show chalk-loaded with advertisements. Kinda irritating when I'm in the middle of Adult Swim, but is it really downloading something, or just tuning me into a commercial bundle exclusive for TiVo? |

JaM4150Premium join:2005-10-27 Matamoras, PA | This downloading of extended data is for the TiVo Showcases. Its not really downloading anything from the Internet. Rather its tuning into a specific channel (usually the Discovery channel) to record advertisements, promotions, and such for TiVo customers. Like a Ford commercial, or a TV Guide review of a (new) show encouring you to record. I've in the past did not allow the TiVo unit to get this "extended data" if I was awake and watching tv at 4 o'clock in the morning. It had no negative impact on my service. |
