Actually, it's more than just 49 bucks your coughing up. Under TiVo's old plan you'd pay $49 but that included a mail in rebate. And the rebate takes a minimum of 12 weeks to be returned (I know from experience).
This new promotion says the box is $49 bucks but (and there always is a but), you have to pay for a full 12 months of service on top of the 49 bucks which comes out to 200 bucks.

Any way you look at it what you pay for at the time of purchase, (if you buy your box from TiVo) is at least 200 not 49. Thats the point I was getting at. |
