Well Series1 don't have network capabilities which explains why they can't do this.
DirectTV TiVo's are network capable from a hardware level, but DirectTV refuses to enable the network features of them in software because DirectTV wants people to buy their new DVRs instead of TiVos. People have hacked the DirecTiVos to enable these features. --
