Re: It looks like Tivo is catching up with the Times!

New ones are $49 at the TiVo website, Best Buy and elsewhere. At $88 you were taken for a ride...unless it comes with a lotta months of service.

Hmmmm......The Promotion your looking at is new. I don't think it was in place when I won mine on EBay.

Actually, it's more than just 49 bucks your coughing up. Under TiVo's old plan you'd pay $49 but that included a mail in rebate. And the rebate takes a minimum of 12 weeks to be returned (I know from experience).

This new promotion says the box is $49 bucks but (and there always is a but), you have to pay for a full 12 months of service on top of the 49 bucks which comes out to 200 bucks.

Gotta read the fine print dude.

So do you. The $49 is with the $150 rebate or with 12 months prepaid service.

Enjoy your eBay purchase.

Dude.

Exactly. What this promotion is doing is making it easier for those that don't have 500 bucks to shell out on the box and service all at once.

Any way you look at it what you pay for at the time of purchase, (if you buy your box from TiVo) is at least 200 not 49. Thats the point I was getting at.
