Re: 2gb is needed now for fear

Nope. FEAR runs fine on my 1gb system.

seriously, that's good. but do you have x64 though. maybe that is why it is a bit sluggish on my system. i know x64 takes a little bit more memory. i ran the demo ok but the retail game takes over a gig on my system for some reason.

Nope. Just regular XP Pro.

Athlon64 (Winchester) 3200, stock.
1GB PC3200.
6600GT (OC: 525/1050).

EDIT: Turn off soft shadows. Monolith's method of implementing them left a lot to be desired anyway.

Rename the fear.exe file to fea.exe (or something like that) and you should get a giant leap in performance if you're running ATI hardware (not sure which but heard it extends all the way to the X700's also).

wow, what a crock of sh^t. Makes you wonder, if software makers rig the game to run bad on systems just so people have to upgrade and buy new hardware. Fishy...

It has nothing to do with the game makers this time. It's ATi that made optimizations for the demo that did not float well with the retail version. They even admitted it themselves...
