| Holy Smokes I got Duped by AOL again After reading this topic I decided to double check to see if AOL cancelled my so called free trial of 6 months when i bought my dell. Sure enough they charged my credit card 44.95 for 3 months service since i was always maxed out on my card. What a disgrace. Should i be able to challenge the charge? |

 | call your bank to reverse the charge. alot of times they will just take your money back, and there is nothing that AOL could do about it. |

Well the other day i wandered into a local CompUsa just because I have not been in one in a long time since Best Buy and Circuit City came to town. the are selling laptops and pc's listed as:
Computer after all on the spot rebates and mail in rebates = $277.00 When you read the fine print, it is not really 277 but 277 plus a "savings" of $250.00 for a subscription to their service that you do not have to pay directly to them.
Almost all their machines had that "scam" going on. So out of pocket was actually 277 + 250 = 527 That is just as misleading. -- »voipboards.net |

| My buddy Steve had AOL, he canceled, and brought his PC to me, begging me to somehow get their software off. I never could get it all off. It kept saying it couldn't read from some disk, never figured that out. And, they do have their own version of spyware that is installed on your pc when you use their software. I think it is some sort of rootkit, at least that is what my antispy said it was.
When I tried it, I called to cancel, and got into arguement with them, it is almost impossible to dropt them, instead of cancelling me, they sent me a letter saying thanx for continueing with their service. I sent them a letter back and told them to kiss my ass, I said cancel, and they can't force me to take something I didn't want, although they sure try like hell. |

I used TuneUp Utils to pry the remainder of their junk from the registry after I deleted all of their crap off the HDD I could find. -- When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other. |
