Just a fraction of

That's just a fraction of the crap you have to deal with from that company. I simply can't believe there are still enough nOObs signing up to them to even keep them afloat. It shouldn't take anybody with any common sense whatsoever to realize what a BAD deal they are.

It's just not "noobs". A LOT of people sign up with them because they offer free month of dialup, so they'll signup and use it and then try to cancel.. try is the keyword.

So why did you signup for AOL In the first place?

I don't have dialup with AOL, just BYOA @ 7/mo. There are a couple of reasons why we still have AOL. We've had AOL since '95 or so. Way before we had any broadband.

And I've had psoriasis since '95. Same difference.

Tell me about the AOL users. My brother is one of them. He asked me last time if I still had broadband and I replied that I would never drop it. He then said he wanted broadband but it was too expensive when he researched the cost. I think he researched AOL broadband only.

What do you mean it is too expensive I asked? I said, plenty of DSL companies that offer high-speed for $15 per month. Also, even cable companies now have a lower tier for less. He is paying well over $24 per month for AOL dial-up. I told him I would research a deal for him and let him know. His response was that I should hold off. I know he is my brother but what a retard. Lets say he does not care about high-speed for whatever reason, how is paying less money for a better service not a good deal?

I told him how I would telecommute, shop online and could even do a web cast of our thanksgiving dinner and he still refused. I mentioned VOIP, video conferencing and numerous other ways he would save time and money and it did not matter.

The reason I hear many people still keep AOL even if it is BYOA is “I have been with them for years”. People use that same BS excuse for not leaving BofA or even a bad partner in a relationship. Just does not make sense.

I do agree with you that AOL dialup is a rip off. I can't believe people pay $23.95/mo. for dialup access when they could DSL for a few dollars more in most areas. For example, DSL Lite (256/128) offered by BellSouth is $24 dollars and some change, plus tax and other fees.
