It's not so much that we deserve it...but...have these people ever heard of population density not to mention the relative affluence of large parts of California... Do they like wasting money upgrading remote networks? I would think the *millions* of potential customers in LA alone would get them moving...

Maybe it would actually get people out of their cars and off the freeways

I was thinking the same thing when I was visiting LA. There was full traffic at 12am when I was returning from Disneyland. Where the heck were all of these people going at this time?

I believe substantial areas of Orange County (Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Garden Grove and surroundings) and Los Angeles County (Manhattan Beach / Airport Area / Torrance) have been upgraded to Verizon FIOS, so they are working on it.... There's also FIOS in the Pomona area and several other areas in Los Angeles.

Of course, unlucky souls like me who have SBC as the telco, and TWC as the cable company will not see any speeds soon. TWC is most likely to upgrade speeds so I am sticking with them. I have absolutely no confidence in SBC being able to deliver any sort of speed at my 12k feet distance of the CO anytime soon. By the time they finally decide to fiber up my hood its going to be 2008 or later.

George W. Bush on Clinton going into Kosovo, 1999: “I think it’s also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn.”

Right. We're still waiting for that Mr. Bush....

Yep.

In fact, we are in SBT territory but just north-east of us in Murrieta they have verizon AND FIOS. Look at the BBR user map, there are lots of users with FIOS around there... none in San Diego of course.
