Bad news becomes Reality..Well, that maintanence never occured, and on the status page says nov 2 from 2-6. I dunno what they will be doing at that time. However I called the tech today, and he said that it would probably be 1-2 months before they reroute back to NYC redback.
Now I ask myself this, they have a maintanence for cleveland soon, for those that are one it, I hope they at least get the latency down to a decent level, I dont care about my speed much, but these pings, jesus. |
|
|
I may cancel my Earthlink dsl account. Why should I pay 50 bux a month for 56k modem speed? I don't think the local bell company is having the problem we are having with dsl in my area, but I will have to find out for sure. Optimum Online will be available next year according to their web site. I have seen Cablevision in my area rolling out the cables on the main streets. Until then I would like to get my speed back if possible. |
|
|
|
DAMN THIS SUX! But how come some people are connected to the NYC2 redback? Did anyone ask a tech about that? I really hope that scheduled maintenance at Cleveland would bring down our pings to at least half for pete's sake.
I just got my DSL like 2 1/2 months ago and I don't feel like paying any termination fees. Besides, I've been hearing too many horror stories about switching services. AND...OOL ain't available here yet so, I guess I'll just stay. |

I hear you arden, half would be decent. I wish OOL was available here, mmmm 5MB speeedddddd |

S.H., where are you routed, what are your first hop pings, and what's your RWIN?
I'm routed via Atlanta, pings around 30 msec, and my RWIN of 32767 still gives me 1300/325 kbps. |

WTF indeed! So forget about the NYC2 redback since those EL techs don't even know it exists...but how can we get switched to the Atlanta redback?! |

This is sad... If i wanted to ping my next door neighbor it would be 130ms Not only that but a speed test as of 11:56 says 756/89. Internet pages are loading as if i was on a 56k and worstly of all I'm a gamer and need the lowest ping i can possibly have! I dont wanna wait a month and a half to start playing normally again. Hey how do you find out when Cable arives in your area? RR says my zip code is in one of their service areas... so how do i find a time? |

I know, this sucks/ I wonder then, if the tech said it would take 1-2 months to go back, then wtf is the maintanence on OCT 2 I mean. [text was edited by author 2001-09-26 21:13:05] |

Yea plz any retoute to either the Boston Redback or the Atlanta redback is much better than what i have to put up with now. Who's idea was it to reroute people from NYC to chicago? Didnt they get a clue that the redbacks would easily overload during peak hrs? |

Holy hot crap! That's the speed I used to get! What redback are you connected to? Can I ask them EL techs to switch me to a different redback? I'll give them a little slack by not calling them tonight. Instead, I'll wait if these two scheduled maintenance for tomorrow happen, and if it fixes all these crapola pings.

PS I meant there was a scheduled maintainence for NY on OCT 2, not NOv 2. |

Look you have to make sure you get a response from Earthlink just as you have to do for almost "all customer no-service centers." People think that Earthlink is bad with this than other companies, not really true they are about average. Just try to get money back from a charge made to your credit card from overseas and see how successful you are. Make sure you get a Trouble Ticket and record the number for it where you won't loose it. |

Just got off with Tier 2, they said they cant reroute anyone to other redbacks because they are working on geting us BACK on NYC redback. They said it should be a month to get us back on it.To just be patient. |

Yeah...I talked to a tech too and said the same thing - can't reroute to a different redback. Dammit...now we just gotta wait 'til 10/02/01 comes. |

Woohoo! I just lost connection for like a minute (ATM light kept blinking again) but now I'm back again. Out of curiosity, I went to » bos.speakeasy.net and I'm getting 1290/330 instead of 600/330!!!! Pings are still a bit a high, but lower than before!!!! Anyone else who got rerouted to the Cleveland redback noticed this new speed? |
