It's gonna cost BellSouth $150 dollars to wire up each home to a fiber optic network. I believe Verizon is paying something like 1200 dollar per home. And they just asked a couple of high-level execs to take early retirement did a restructuring (ie, thinning down.) They'll most likely do more layoffs next year at the lower levels of management. All this to prepare themselves for a merger with SBC next year? Could be...
