How stupid is this

I love the selective memory these bells have. They say they spend billions on upgrades so they should be able to charge content providers as well. Funny thing is if not for companies like google, real, microsoft, yahoo, etc providing the content no one would buy your connection and we would all still only need dial up connections. How much money has yahoo, microsoft, google invested in content. I say let them do it if they want to loose there customers to cable. This is very stupid considering the relationship SBC(att) has with yahoo which helps them sell a lot more net connections due to the branded portal. Plain greedy and will any interest built up with there cable tv build out

Especially in the case of AT&T the argument that they have to be able to do this to recover costs for the supposed vast amounts of upgrade spending is complete crap.
AT&T planned upgrades and project lightspeed are a modest part of present capex. Their own bigwigs are on record telling investors that this is penny ante money and that they could simply reverse course and move to fiber down the line if it didn't work out as planned.
