Re: [TV] The 1394 (Firewire) ports DO work on FIOS STB

Are you guys capturing to your computer or have you tried extending the DVR recording space using an external hard drive enclosure?

Capping to computer. I have no hopes at all that it will talk to a USB/Firewire HD...

What the heck, I have a 1TB drive sitting next to me, I'll take it home to try.

Yeah, I had tried that the same day I had it installed. I tried HDNET and I think Discovery HD, but no go. It looks like the 5C encryption is set for the national channels, as you said. You must have a device that will recognize the 5c encyption and allow you to record this (depending on what the 5c setting are for that show/channel). At this point I believe only a DVHS deck has that.

Yes, at this point we are trying to capture to a computer, but not having any luck, except on local channels due to the 5c encryption.

As far as extending the hard drive space for the STB, my STB does not have any SATA connectors on it, like the DCT-6412 phase III does.
