chudel : Here's an interesting followup. Called Sales today, since with the price reduction, 3.0Meg service is more reasonably affordable -- hey, it's $60/year savings!

After 30 minutes, and six handoffs, a sales rep assured me that all Ultra->Xtreme upgrades have been placed on hold in my area, until my area is ready for X6.0 [even though I did not want to go to 6.0, only 3.0]. Says I should wait and receive an email on the first of the (next) month.

While I am unlikely to go to cable for internet services, situations like this don't really help!

[Edited by self: Removed paragraph disparaging CSR honesty]

dave006 : Interesting, let me check my account. I downgraded from Xtreme 3.0 to Ultra on 11/19. I just checked and I still have the option to upgrade to "FastAccess DSL Xtreme" (3.0). I don't have the option for 6.0 listed. Since I am in South Florida, it may appear later if my line qualifies and all the Hurricane repairs are completed.

Dave
