Mail, accounts which get very much spam, and I have had three MSN Hotmail accounts getting 20 spam messages per day, or more, and a Yahoo! Mail account getting 20 spam messages per day, or more. Do you suppose that they had it in for me alone? I suppose I could make any kind of conspiracy theory that I wanted.
According to my sister, a Comcast account holder, Comcast does a decent job of filtering spam. I was helping one of her daughters, once. I'd poll my niece's Comcast sub account from my MTA, check for spam, and she would poll my MTA POP3 server for non-spam. She was getting very little spam.
You are presenting your experience with spam and Comcast. Your experience is not, necessarily, representative.
I have had a number of accounts with a number of mail providers. Some get heavily spammed, others get hardly spammed. It has more to do with exposure of the email address, or its propensity to fall to dictionary attack. I even had an SBC Yahoo! DSL Service sub account that got spam within 6 hours of creating it, though I never used it, or gave it out. From the evidence, it appeared to have been recycled from a previous user. |
