Austin, TX | Tips needed for Hawaii Vacation We're leaving shortly for two weeks in Hawaii. We are staying in Kapolei, which is on the western shore of Oahu. It's been suggested that we do some island-hopping, but with the kids in tow I simply can't afford it, nor can I break up the vacation package. I've never been to Oahu (did honeymoon on Maui).
Given that, does anybody have any suggestions? I plan to do some diving and surfing, and also visit Pearl Harbor/the USS Arizona. Other than that, I would very much appreciate tips regarding sights, restaurants, etc. We will have a rental car. Thanks!

Hey there Ranger!
Well, I don't know about Oahu, but I did just get back from 10 days on Maui in November, had the time of my life!!!
Anyway, the best resource I found (and everyone else did too...I swear I saw a thousand copies of it while I was there) was this "Maui Revealed" book...they have one for Oahu too...
It will more than likely be worth the $15.95 they're asking for it...just remember this; every other asshole in the joint that's there on vacation more than likely has a copy of it too, so best of luck!

Thanks for the link DrewCapu  , some things of interest in there. christopher_ , I'll try to find that book, and I'll also try to take some good pics. Be forewarned: I'm a lousy photographer. 
Should anyone else have suggestions, please post. I'll have the laptop with broadband access while there, and I'll check in from time to time (but not too often...this is vacation ).
