k0balt7 posted : Hello,

I run across the same issue on my home network where the router would drop my wireless computer. This would happen when I would use WPA encryption. When I switched to WEP, everything was fine.

I called and talked to 3COM tech support and they suggested that I make sure I have the lastest and greatest firmware and drivers. I have both and WPA still does not work... I really want to use WPA, but as of now, I am stuck with WEP...

OfficeConnect Wireless 11a/b/g AP (3CRWE454A72)

a51 posted : I manage a network of about 50 users in a small school which has both desktop (wired) computers and laptop (wireless) on the same network. The school opened last fall and since that time I've struggled with the issue of our 3CRWE454A72 access points frequently dropping wireless users. Typically only a handful of people can be connected at the same time and when more users attempt to connect those people already on will be dropped. The signal strength always remains strong but the IP address changes over to an automatically assigned private one. The users then have to manually repair the connection to reconnect, which drops the other users again, ad nauseum.

I've tried contacting 3Com tech support who helpfully suggested I update the firmware to the latest (I did) and that I switch each of the APs from auto channel and manually assign them staggered channel numbers. I did this as well and the problem has persisted.
We are using WPA encryption which may or may not be part of the issue. I'd rather not switch to WEP because it is so clunky, and going without any encryption at all is out of the question. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated with this.
