| Why Verizon Lost... The reason Verizon lost the lawsuit with regards to the v710 is that they ADVERTISED that files and pictures could be transferred between the phone and a laptop WIRELESSLY (via Bluetooth). Thus, since they had crippled the Bluetooth and the file transfer capability was not available, Verizon got sued and rightfully lost; false advertising.
As a result... Verizon stopped advertising file transfer capabilities and you will notice that on any phone that has Bluetooth they have a disclaimer that the phone ONLY supports Headset Profiles and does NOT support OBEX type file transfers.
Unfortunately, there really isn't much that can be done since Verizon does not wrongfully/illegally advertise features of the phone.
That said... I am still VERY disappointed that Verizon crippled the Bluetooth on the new Treo 700w. |
