naira : after upgrading the firmware have you reset the router? usually if the firmware has been upgraded it takes reset on the router for the new firmware to load up no problem. but i believe its not with the router since the other computer could go online no problem. note: resetting the router would put the settings back to its default, you might need to reconfigure the router after that...

but try this first . . .

try to clean your browser on the comp using WMP54G, just open i.e> tools> internet options> content tab> auto complete> click on clear forms. if it wont help, then update the adapters drivers.

jpole : Naira,

I don't have another wireless device to test. Not all web pages load slowly. The main culprits so far are Yahoo, Microsoft and Sun. Some sites I need to refresh after I get the error that the page cannot be found. I tried lowering my MTU value from 1500, but it did not help. I don't have any of these issues with my XP machine that is wired directly to the router. I do have the latest firmware.

naira : If there would be any other wireless computers that you could use to further isolate the problem then that would be good.

Try to check if another wireless computers could access the internet slow, if that's the case then its the router, if the other wireless computer is fast then the problem has something to do with the adapter.

We need to isolate the problem first before making any actions to target the exact resolution immediately without messing up other working devices.

Recently, I have experienced slow wireless internet access with WRT54G Ver.5 and what I did was to upgrade the firmware to 1.0.0.4, its working good after that. But I suggest try to isolate the problem further first. :)

[Wireless] Linsksys WMP54G Slow Web Page Loads

jpole : I recently installed a home network using WRT54g v5 and WMP54g V4. The router is connected to an XP machine and the adapter Win 98SE. I have no problems with signal strength or connectivity on the Win98SE machine that has the adapter. But the web pages load very slow, with frequent refreshing required to get to some pages. However, download speed are very good, around 7900kbps, which is comparable to my XP machine which is attached to the router(9600kbps). I optimized the 98SE machine based on tweak test reports. The router is set up as a DHCP server, (using Optimum Online) and I had to set a specific IP address on the 98SE machine to avoid IP address conflicts with my XP machine.

Any suggestions on getting web pages to load at a reasonable rate?
