Also, this might be related to the MPEG4 rollout for HDTV channels and HDTV recorders. By leasing the equipment, users may be less likely to upgrade the systems with larger drives or perform other hacks.
All in all, whatever the reason, I am sure it will be to the corporations benefit. |
