Dropper

yes, but too many abused on the distribution of dsl make it like filling your gas tank (hard drive in this case) with an eye dropper. Unless you like looking at web pages all day, and downloading enough mp3s to fit on a cd-r instead of a 60gb ipod.

Just a thought. I think G4Techtv should do a parody of the crappy deployments we see in both the cable and telco industry today...
You know where they can stick the $2 drop... that should be the installation charge for internet-2 fiber!! :->

What are you talking about? eye dropped?

My house has 3mbit DSL and my college apartment has 5mbit cable.

True, the cable is twice as fast (DSL sync'd at 2.65mbit), but overall it only equals about 5 minutes of download time. So I have to wait 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes for that 350MB file I am...big deal.

I would still take the slower DSL over the cable.

1. The price
2. The upload speed.
3. The stability.

My cable enjoys dying once a week and I get higher gaming pings.

Cable/DSL is so area dependent. Broadband as a whole should be compared on its pros and cons, I agree to that. However, just because cable may be bad in some areas doesn't mean cable sucks as a whole. Not that I am saying you said that, just pointing it out.

Cable in my area was totally awesome and incredibly fast. The only con was the price. DSL used to really suck in my area about 5 years ago. When I first subscribed to DSL, I was nervous. Today, 2 years later, I am happy and have no plans to move away from them.
